ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Alisa W. Karwowski grew up in Wells, Maine and now makes her home in coastal New Hampshire. She lives with her husband, Tim and their two children. Both of her sons, Jack and Charlie were adopted by the couple from St. Petersburg, Russia. "Writing these books was not necessarily my choice. I felt as though I had seen so much and felt so much, too much not to share. I need people to know what it is like in Russian orphanages and how wonderful and full of potential the hundreds of children awaiting families are. Actually writing the books was much the same process of adopting my children. Once I started there was no turning back. No matter how preoccupied, intimidated and exhausted I became, I had to tell you about the children."

Alisa is a Guidance Counselor and holds a private practice license in counseling. She is an active member of the New Hampshire Writer's Project and of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She is the author of "A Guide to Russian Adoption: Professional Counseling and Personal Insights" and "Your Day is our Day."
